10 ways to make study time interesting for the kids





Kids are always in a playful mood, making them to sit for study or to do their homework becomes really tough some times. Some kids are blessed with good study habits but for some kids, the moment they hear the word "study time" from their parents, it's like a punishment for them. They think they are pulled and forced to do this boring thing. But we can always make this boring study time interesting for kids.

There are many ways by which you can make your kids" boring study time" interesting. Few tips are to be followed to make this study time joyful time for kids. All you need is to change your study strategy for kids, stop following the older methods which is boring for your kids and plan some innovative and interesting ways to make their studytime funtime which they can enjoy and learn together.

There are numerous ways by which you can make your kids study time a fun time. Some of the startegies or tips are listed below. Try them to make your kids boring study time become a fun time and make your kid excel in their exams and get all the appretiation and attention from everyone.



1. Keep TV or gadets off :

At the time of study, keep all the distractions like TV and laptops etc. off in your kids room, so that they can concentrate easily on studies. Set aside time for studying only. Do not be busy on your smartphone sitting beside them when they are studing, kids easily get distracted.


 

2. Study with a friend :

If your kid feels bored to study alone, call his friend to study over with him. Make them study together in an interesting way. Tell them to prepare a topic and explain it to each other. You can also give them a test together and reward the one who performs better to motivate them to perform better.



3. Group study :

If studying by your kid alone become monotonous activity for him, call some of his friends to study in groups. Group study is interesting way to study as different kid has different learning skill. Some topics which your ward feel difficult may be easily understood by his other friend and can be explained. Kids take more interest in listening to their friends. Turn by turn they can explain or discuss a topic with each other and can have group discussions to learn about a topic thoroughly.



4. Outdoor study :

If you have an outdoor garden area in your home or an open balcony, make them study there in the open. This will give them break from their daily boring study routine in a room. Also they will feel fresh and active looking at the greenery around and studying in natural light. It will also help in improving their concentration. Sometimes learning or reading while walking is effective and fun way to understand, learn or memorise the topic easily.



5. Showing Videos to make them understand a concept:

If a child has difficulty in understanding a topic, show them videos relating to it, to understand the topic easily. A topic with Audio-visual display is understood better than just by verbal explanation and also last longer in memory.



 6. Be creative :

When explaining a topic or a subject, find creative ways to make them understand by giving examples from daily life which can be understood by the kid better. Find some interesting ways to memorise or learn various topics. Do some simple experiments at home to make them understand the subject better.



7. Interactive learning :

This works in a great way and is also fun for students to learn in an interactive way. Learning through various puzzels or games, through a video or through a pictures goes long way in understanding a concept and since the kids are actively participating in the process, it's also a fun for them. Having various debates and discussions about a topic, help in a great way in learning and also understanding a concept.



8. Taking short breaks : 

Sometimes it becomes monotonous and boring for anyone to sit in a place and study for long stretches. Taking short breaks in between study time makes them fresh and charge them with energy and help them in better concentration inturn. Taking a short break for a walk or to have a snack or to pursue their hobby like painting or music is a great way to re-energise and give a fresh start to studying again.



9. Reward system:

Giving your kid a reward when they give correct answers or perform better works in a great way in encouraging them to do better. They find it interesting and fun  to get a reward for better performance. This encourages and motivates them to do better.



10. Positive encouraging: 

Sometimes studying becomes pointless or baseless to some kids, so make them understand the importance of studying. Encourage them in a positive way and always appreciate them when they do better or perform well in a test or exam or when they give you the correct answer. This will make them more confident and motivate them to do better. Having a certain goal or aim always helps them to do better in life.
