Wi-Fi is a popular wireless networking technology that uses RF or radio wave to provide wireless high speed internet and network connections. Today in the world of easy connectivity of smartphones, tablet and laptops and multiple electronic gadgets without wire, life has bacome easy and comfortable to keep ourself connected to people across the globe but this easy life and comfort has come with its own side effects.
Yes, wi-fi has made our business, personal and proffesional life easier and better but there is no way one can stay away from its harmful effects, be it an adult or a kid. Children and developing fetuses are more vunerable to its harmful effects because their bodies are relatively smaller, their skull is thinner and their brain tissue is more absorbent.
Every house, school, offices, your neighbourhood, public place are connected with wifi or are wi-fi hot spot zone. There is no way to completely cut-off these radio waves, as even if you turn off your wi-fi network at home, you can still get these signals from your neighbouring houses and other places. These radio waves can easily penetrate through walls and almost everything in house.
You can easily come to know about the number of wi-fi signal you are getting in your house by checking the wi-fi networks on your mobile or laptop. Though the strengh of the wi-fi signal is maximum from your own wi-fi router at home than other places. The intensity of these radio waves decreases with distance from the source router. We cannot completely escape from these radio waves but always minimise their harmful effects by using proper safety rules or precaution.
The various health risk associated with Wi-fi signal are:
- Sleep disorders
- Depression and anexity
- Headache
- Brain fog and memory loss
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Can cause cancer
- Heart palpitation in RF sensitive adults
- Causes reduced sperm motility and viability
- We should limit our exposure to gadgets using wi-fi.
- Keep your wi-fi network off when not in use.
- Always switch off the wi-fi network during the night to get good night sleep.
- Always sit atleast 1-2m away from the wi-fi router as the maximum strength of these rays is near the source i.e, wi-fi router.
- Do not use laptop on your lap, always keep it on a table or a tray.
- Keep kids away from gadgets like i-pads, tablets and smartphones or keep your smartphone in aeroplane mode before giving them to your kids.
- Pregnant women should avoid exposure to these rays or keep some safe distance while using them to keep their developing fetuses protected from these harmful radio waves.
- Its better to use text message for communication than using phone for long talks.
- Using speaker and talking from a distance away from your ear and head is safer.
- Do not give toys to your kids that uses wireless technology especially toys with remote control.
- Kids should be encouraged to play more outdoor games and indoor games or activity rather than video and internet games on ipad, tablets or smartphones.
- Always install your wi-fi router away from the kids room so that the intensity of these radio waves is least in their room.
To keep them away from these gadgets, you can alternately give them some fun activity to do or play or you can engage them in some hobby like painting or music or any other hobby or activity which your kid likes. It is always best for kids to play with their friends and sibling for their healthy growth developments than spending their time with these gadgets.
Since Wi-fi is a popular wireless network and it offers you wireless life and makes your work, business and personal lives easy to manage, it is impossible to cut its exposure completely but we can always limit its use to make its exposure minimum especially at home to keep our family and kids safe. So while using the technology, keeping yourself and your loved ones safe is also important.
