How to help your child to control his aggressive behaviour.

Is your child aggressive ? Does he hit or bite or throws things when he gets angry or for  any other reason which you don't understand.
Everytime a kid throws a tantrum, it becomes difficult to handle her or him especially in public place or infront of relatives or friends, it becomes an embarrasing situation. Often these kids are labelled as naughty kids by everyone. But these kids need to be handle with care and love.

Most kids stop their aggressive behaviour after the preschool ends or as they grow up but some kids continue their aggressive behaviour as they grow up. It is very difficult and embarrasing for the parent  of such child as they get lot of complaint about the child from his school and other parents.

It is important to understand your child first, his behaviour and what triggers him for such behaviour. Always take actions with calm mind to make him control his aggressive behaviour. Be in touch with the teacher of your child and have regular talks and discussions with her about his behaviour and what works best for him to stop or overcome such behaviour. While handling such child, few things should be kept in mind to help him control his aggressive behaviour.

Handle him/her with love:

Do not slap or hit him for such behaviour, hug him and talk smoothly. Ask him softly with calm mind about what made him to react like that. After knowing the cause of his anger, make him understand why its wrong to be aggressive or hit or bite somebody.  Tell him the alternate ways he could have behaved in such circumstances by giving him various examples. Assure him that you are always there for him to help if somebody troubles him.

Explain him why aggressive behaviour is not accepted:

Make him understand, how a victim feels because of his aggressive behaviour. Ask him how he feels if somebody is aggressive towards him, the same applys to other also. Slowly make him understand the bad effects of aggressive behaviour and why he should stop behaving like that. Always tell him that good behaviour is praised by everyone and everyone will love him if he acts like good boy/girl.

Show him how to behave in circumstances which trigger agressive behaviour in him/her:

If you know the reasons for your childs aggressive behaviour, show him different ways in which he should have behaved. Explain him the importance of good behaviour and how it help in healthy living in a society. If there is something that triggers such behaviour, tell him to stay away from it or engage in some other activity which makes him happy to distract his mind. Also drinking a glass of water when he get angry will helps him in calming his mind.

Be a role model for your child:

Do not indulge in aggressive behaviour especially in front of your child. Be a role model for your child as the child learns what he sees in his house from his elders. Also your child will point on you for such behaviour when you try to say no to him for such behaviour. So before making a child behave properly, we elders should behave properly in front of them.

Do not hit or punish him/her :

Hitting or punishing your child after his aggressive behaviour will not help him in any way,  as this will make him to learn that hitting and punishing others is only the way to deal with others to get their things done. Make him understand the consequences of such behaviour with calm and cool mind by giving him examples of what is the correct way to behave in such situations.

Eliminate underlying stress or anxiety:

Some kids may be aggresive due to some underlying stress or anxiety. Have patience and talk to them with love and affection to eliminate their stress or anxiety. Try to know the cause of their anxiety, fear or stress by talking and assuring them that you love and care for them are always there to help them in any situation. Counselling with an expert may help in severe condition of stress and anxiety.

Compliment when a child shows good behaviour:

Always compliment a child for his good behaviour. This makes him happy and encourages him to behave well with others. When your child helps his friends, shows courtesy towards others or does any kind of good behaviour, always compliment and tell him how well he behaves with others and you are really proud of him for his good behaviour.

Don't remind him of old incident of agressive behaviour:

If he has behaved aggressive in some past incident, don't keep on reminding him about that as this will have a negative impact on him. Let him forget about his aggressive behaviour incidents. Always remind him and praise him of the good behaviour he shows towards others.

Tell him ways to control anger:

There are different ways to control anger like meditation, yoga, counting from 1to 10, drinking a glass of water to cool down etc. when he gets angry but for small kids patience, love, understanding is all what is required and you as parent know best about your child needs and what works best for him in calming his mind, so handle him patiently with love and care.

Engage him in some creative activity ot take him out:

Make your child to do some creative activity to get out of that aggressive mood and to keep him engaged like painting, making buiding blocks, some craft activity, dance and music. You can also take him out to the playground to freshen up his mood or to some other palce so that he focuses on some other activity.

Playing in the snow, making a snowman with kids, skiing, hiking, sledding, snowboarding,  and many more activities to do in winter with kids, friends and family.

In winter kids need to be given extra protection as they have low immunity and are more vulnerable to getting sick in cold weather and missing all the fun in winter. Winter storms and cold weather can be hazardous to everyone. Staying safe and healthy is must for everyone in winters especially kids.

The first layer should be soft and thin as it touches our skin, so skin sensitivity and comfort should be kept in mind while choosing the first layer of clothes in winter. The other layer should be of sweaters or other warm clothes to keep your body warm in winters. The last layer should be jackets and pants that protect you and your kid from the extremities of weather like snow, water droplets or winds.

Several thin layers will keep your baby or kid warm and dry in winter. Don't forget to make them wear socks, gloves or mittens and boots when taking them out in winters. Cover their head with a warm cap available for winters to protect their head and ears from cold.

The thumb rule for dressing a baby or kid for winter is, always keep your baby or kid covered in one extra layer than yourself to keep them protected and warm in winters.

Eye goggles are important to wear while engaging in winter sports activities to protect your eyes from any debris entering into it while playing and causing harm.

Always supervise snow activities:

With small kids and children, it is  essential to supervise them when they are playing in the snow as they tend to forget their safety while playing. So atleast one parent should be there with the kid to ensure kids safety while playing. Also childrens tend to try out new things or ways to play without knowing the safety, so it's best to supervise them while playing. Always take some time to be with them when they are playing outside in the snow to make sure they are playing safely.

Watch signs of hypothermia or frostbite :

Pale, grey or blistered skin on the fingers, toes, nose or ear are some of the warning signs of hypothermia or frostbite. If you see your child is in danger of frostbite, bring the child immediately to home and keep the affected body part in warm water not hot water. You can slightly keep on increasing the temperature of water from luke warm to little higher slowly with time. Signs of hypothermia are slurred speech, shivering, unusual clumsiness. If you think your child has symptoms of hypothermia, call or consult a doctor immediately.

Keep Hydrated:

Not only in summer we need keep ourself hydrated in winters too, as in the drier winter season kids tend to loose more water while playing. So keep them hydrated by offering them more liquids and water to drink. Also it's equally important for adults to keep themselves hydrated in winter especially if they are engaging in winter sports and outdoor activities.

Drink lot of warm water and warm liquids:

Keep yourself and your kids warm as well as hydrated in winters. Drink lots of warm liquids to keep yourself and especially your kids protected from getting cold and cough in winters. Having hot soups and hot milk, or hot chocolate milk for kids help build their immunity in winters and also keep them hydrated and warm from the inside of their body.

Use sunscreen:

Always use sunscreen while stepping out of the house in the sun to keep yourself and your kids skin protected from sunburns and tanning. Sunburns do not occur only in summers but in winter's too you can get sunburns when exposed to sunrays. Keep your skin protected  by applying sunscreen especially in the exposed parts of the body.

Eat all the seasonal fruits and vegetables :

All the seasonal fruits and vegetables are full of nutrients that keep us protected and increase our immunity to fight diseases of that particular season. This is natures way of protecting us in its harsh conditions.

Winter care tips for skin, lips and feet | Home tips and Remedy |

Everyone loves winter for sipping hot beverages, lazy and cozy mornings. This is the time when you just love to snug in your cozy blanket and have some hot tea or coffee but it also has some drawbacks especially when it comes to your skin. Due to cold winds your skin becomes dry, itchy, flacky and the wrost case when you get cracks in your feet and chapped lips which are painful too.  Cold weather, dry and chilly winds can cause havoc on your skin, you need to take extra care for your skin, lips and feet to keep them retain their natural moisture and give natural glow in winter.

In winter your skin loses natual moisture due to dry and chilly weather and loses it's natural softness and elasticity, it becomes rough and dry. You must moisturise your skin regularly atleast 3-4 times a day or in regular intervals if the weather is too chilly and dry to protect your skin from the damaging effect of cold and dry winds because after some time the moisture from your skin is lost leaving it dry, itchy and more prone to cracks especially if not treated or taken care in time. So not only your skin but your lips and feet also need some special care in winter to keep them soft and glowing.

TIPS FOR WINTER CARE OF YOUR SKIN

  • The most important rule is do not forget to moisturise your skin at night because this is the best time when your body is at rest and all the moisturiser get absorbed in the skin giving it soft, glowing look in the morning.

  • Do not have too hot showers as hot water tend to make your skin more dry and makes your skin lose its natural moisture fast. Have luke warm water for bathing.

  • After bathing, do not forget to moisturise your skin. Use good moisturiser for your whole body.

  • When you go out, cover yourself properly with sweaters, jackets, gloves and scarfs to protect your skin from chilly, dry winds and pollution.

FEET CARE IN WINTER

This is the part of your body which is most ignored in winter which can leads to cracked and dry feet. Cracked feets are painful and also prone to infection. So like we care for our body in winter, our feet also requires some care especially in winter to keep them soft and protect them from getting cracked and infected.

  • Always wear socks to protect your feet from drying and getting cracked.

  • Apply a good moisturiser on your feet also and then wear socks to protect it in winter.

  • If you have a cracked heel, apply a herbal crack cream and then wear socks over it.

  • For quick heal of the cracked feet, it is best to apply crack cream at night on the feet and then wear a socks over it and go to sleep as night time help in faster healing. Do this daily untill your cracked heel is healed completely.

  • Keep your feet in warm water for some time. This will make your feet relaxed and also soaks dead skin on your feet which can be easily removed by scrubbing. Scrub your feet with a feet scrubber to get rid of the dead skin. Apply a good moisturiser cream on your feet to keep them soft and glowing. Do it atleast once in a week to keep your feet soft and crack free.

HAND CARE IN WINTER

We frequently wash our hands during daytime after various activities to keep them clean and also to follow a good hygiene. But in winters due to frequent washing, the moisture from our hands is lost quickly which results in dry and flaky skin and sometimes can crack also if not taken care. So our hands also need some special care in winter to keep them soft and glowing.

  • During too cold and dry weather condition,  whenever you wash your hands, apply a moisturiser on your hands after washing as frequent washing rips off moisture from your skin quickly.

  • Always carry a small bottle of moisturiser in your handbag during winters and apply it on your hands whenever you wash them.

  • If you have too dry hands, keep them in warm water for some time during night, wipe them with a soft towel and apply a Boroplus or Boroline anticeptic cream on your hands before going to sleep. Your hands will be healed and will become soft quickly.

LIP CARE IN WINTER

Lips are important feature in your face and help in defining your face and its looks. Lips are more prone to become dry and chapped if not taken care as they are always exposed to cold weater and dry winds. So taking care of your lips becomes very essential in winter to keep them soft and protect them from drying, so that you always keep smiling happily in winter.

  • Always apply a lip balm on your lips in winter to keep it soft,  moisturised and to protect it from getting chapped due to cold weather.

  •  If you wearing lipstick, use lipstick with high moisture content or apply lip balm first and then apply lipstick over it to keep your lips moist and soft.
